Bud’s Job Training Program

WayneWe have to give a big shoutout to Wayne as the Bud’s employee of the month for March! He has done a tremendous job helping us with our donations program and making sure we always have great product in the store. Thanks for all you do, Wayne!

A lot of people know that Bud’s Warehouse is Denver’s original and best home improvement thrift store. But not everyone knows that Bud’s is also a non-profit job-training program for individuals rebuilding lives from addiction, homelessness and prison. Bud’s Warehouse hires and trains individuals who have significant barriers to employment. Every morning before the store opens, Bud’s employees and volunteers gather for on-site trainings. The Bud’s Warehouse training program is designed to combine workplace experience with trainings that equip employees for transition to full-time, self-sufficient employment.

Our employees participate in a one year program and go through an individualized life skills curriculum that includes such topics as: healthy living, job development, personal finance, computer skills, and interviewing for new jobs (among others). We also do weekly one-on-one case management that covers personal and professional goal setting and  transitioning into independent living. Our program was even recently featured on the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s national website.

When you shop at Bud’s you directly support our mission and our employees. We’re always looking for partners to benefit our staff – do you have a skill you could help us train in or know someone who would be willing to consider one of our graduates for employment? Just let us know.

As always, Bud’s Warehouse is open to the public.  The innovative concept of a home improvement thrift store has become increasingly popular with area homeowners seeking savings of up to 70% on home improvement items while helping others.  The organization offers vinyl flooring, marble and granite, doors, kitchen cabinets, appliances, carpet, hardware, light fixtures, windows, cabinet doors, bathtubs, sinks, and many other building materials.

For more information or to donate tax deductible building materials, call (303) 296-3990. Bud’s Warehouse is open Monday though Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Has Anyone Seen “Bud”?

One question we get a lot, here at the store is, “Who is Bud?” The “BUD’S” in Bud’s Warehouse actually stands for Building Unity and Dignity through Service and our non-profit mission is to rebuild lives through our career and life-skill development program for employees.

As a job-training program, Bud’s Warehouse offers over 20,000 sq. ft. of new and antique home improvement supplies – all donated by area contractors, builders, suppliers, and homeowners. The concept behind Bud’s is that we accept new and used building and home products, then clean, organize, and sort them. We sell them to the public to support and provide the business environment for our job-training program for individuals rebuilding lives from addiction, homelessness, and prison. All donations are eligible for a federal and state tax deduction.

In general, here’s what makes the best kind of donations:

  • cabinets
  • newer appliances
  • new tile
  • new carpet
  • hardware
  • light fixtures
  • doors
  • windows
  • bath tubs
  • sinks
  • furniture
  • Bud’s is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information or to donate tax deductible building supplies, call (303) 296-3990.
